New Zealand’s Healthiest Schools Challenge 2018

The New Zealand’s Healthiest Schools Challenge (“Challenge”) is carried out jointly by AIA International Limited, New Zealand branch and Sovereign Services Limited (“AIA/Sovereign”), with assistance from Azion Wellness Limited (“Azion”).

Nominate a school campaign (8-26 August 2018):

Members of the public may nominate schools to enter the Challenge online at between 8-26 August 2018. Nominations do not guarantee the school entry to participate in the Challenge. It is an opportunity for the public to encourage a school to participate, and gives a school an extra chance to win a sports grant prize should that school be selected to participate and participates in the Challenge. The nominated schools will be contacted by Azion and encouraged to register their interest in the Challenge.

The principal or teachers of a school need to register and if their registration is successful will make the final decision on whether a class is able to participate in the Challenge. This is to ensure they have capacity to participate alongside their other educational plans for Term 4.

Entry into the New Zealand’s Healthiest Schools Challenge (Term 4, 2018):

Classes of New Zealand schools must apply to enter the Challenge. Teachers can apply on behalf of their class by registering interest for their class to participate in the Challenge directly at

Entry into the Challenge is subject to availability and registering interest or being nominated does not guarantee entry. AIA/Sovereign are committed to helping NZ become the healthiest, most protected nation in the world, and Azion will structure the selection process to ensure fair weighting to student ages, decile ranges and geographical spread in New Zealand. The selection of an individual class to participate in the Challenge does not guarantee that other classes within the same school can participate. Azion will host all registrations of interest and will release successful requests into entering the Challenge before the challenge start date.

Throughout the Challenge, participating schools will get the chance to win the prizes specified below.

$50,000 worth of AIA and Sovereign sports grants

There is $50,000 total worth of sports grants for schools to win. The winning schools will be drawn at random and sports grants delivered to schools as 1x $10,000 cheque, 4x $5,000 cheques and 20x $1,000 cheques at the end of the challenge.

Schools receive entries to the draw for the sports grant prize pool via the following means:

  • Each class that participates in the Challenge will receive an entry into the draw for their school
  • Each school that received a nomination from the public via between 8-26 August 2018 will receive an entry into the draw for each nomination received.
  • Each participant in the Support Crew Challenge will also give an entry to the school they select to support.

Sports grants will be drawn the week commencing 26 November 2018 and the winning schools will be notified within 7 business days of the draw.
